Lex Gillies, a British Skin Foundation ambassador, is one of a few influencers to celebrate skin conditions, using makeup to celebrate her rosacea, rather than covering it up.
Gillies, who has fans in beauty industry heavyweights Sali Hughes and Sam Chapman, has told how she ‘didn’t want to wait’ until brands and the media included people with skin conditions, so she used her social media accounts and blog to highlight beauty issues often ignored. Earlier this year Gillies was responsible for beauty movement #undesirbalesofinstagram, after images of her skin condition were taken down by Instagram – deeming them unfit for the platform. The hash tag soon went viral, gaining attention from the Daily Mail, BBC, ITV, Glamour and Refinery29.
